Readathon

For every minute you read during the 8 day period, you will earn credits towards the spring book fair. The more you read, the more you earn!
Read 1-159 minutes - $5 credit
Read 160 - 239 minutes - $7 credit
Read 240 minutes or more - $10 credit
MINUTES: Don’t guess the number of minutes. Look at the clock or use a timer or stopwatch to clock your minutes. Use the Minutes Recording Chart below to keep track of your reading each day.
SIGNATURE: At the end of the eight days, make sure to have your parents sign the reading log. (This will help to ensure fairness.)

RETURN: Return your completed reading log to your teacher by February 21st for your minutes to count towards your book fair credits.

HOW TO GET MINUTES:
- Reading before and after school.
- Reading aloud to a pet.
- Homework/Reading Log reading so long as it is done before or after school.
- Reading under the bed covers, with a flashlight, late at night (but only if it is okay with your parents).
- Being read to by other people as long as it isn’t at school.
- Reading on the bus.
- Reading aloud to other people counts. If you happen to read to someone who is also participating in the
Read-A-Thon, it counts for both of you!
- Reading during class or before the official start of the Read-a-thon is not counted.
The recommended reading goal is 20 minutes/day or 160 total minutes!
